Ian’s love letter to his fans
“These fans, I owe them so much,” Ian said. “Not to sound cliché, we wouldn’t have this show [without them]. They are so unbelievably supportive of me and my work and my passions. It’s a very strange relationship; it’s like having this crazy support team, it’s almost how a family supports each other, it’s really bizarre and it’s really really cool,” he explained.
“I don’t take it for granted, I appreciate it in every way shape and form. They’re great, and they’re pretty damn inspiring,” he said. “They get together on their own and they make all sorts of things happen. This one group of teenagers in high school raised this really significant amount of money for the National Wildlife Federation just on a whim, because they thought that was the right thing to do. People kept asking where to send money, the NRDC which is the Natural Resources Defense Council, those people are amazing; there’s Conservation International, and then there’s the Wildlife Federation that is actually helping all these animals survive and these kids raised like a lot of money and they sent it to the National Wildlife Foundation… I didn’t even ask them… These are kids in high school who could have otherwise been buying some Justin Bieber albums, and they put their allowance and whatever money they make babysitting and they pooled it all together and…you know how many animals they’ll help. It’s humbling, put it that way.“
So there you have it, a giant “I heart you” from your Mr. Somerhalder.

Delena is just a pipe dream for Damon
Now that we’ve heard Ian Somerhalder’s thoughts on a “Vampire Diaries” musical episode, and how playing Damon’s softer side is a challenge, what else did we have to discuss with the CW superstar?
Why, the possibility of a hook-up between his character, Damon, and Nina Dobrev’s Elena, of course. Unfortunately for “Dalena” fans, Ian said the forecast for their romantic future is pretty bleak. (more…)
Ian Somerhalder Birthday Project

My friend (and Damonic affiliate) Natalie decided to run a very special project to celebrate Ian’s birthday, coming next December 08. And since is very special, we’re joining forces and promoting this project around.
Ian is a very strong activist for various causes. And one of the causes he support and that’s really close to my heart – since I’m a very animal lover person myself – is for helping homeless animals. He frequently tweets about helping animals at shelters in Atlanta as well as shelters in his homestate of Louisiana.
Thinking about it, Natalie and Nicki decided to raise funds for the St. Tammany Humane Society, located in Covington, Louisiana (where Ian has adopted his own dog). If you would like to contribute with donations, please, go here. The deadline to submit your donation and birthday greeting is November 24th, 2010.
Let’s make it happen!
Andy’s ‘Vampire Diaries’ Afterthoughts
The couples on this show are all wrong! Allow me to recast them so they make more sense:
Elena and Stefan have always seemed like such a sickeningly sweet, and mostly perfect, couple — but after watching the Sept. 23 episode of The Vampire Diaries, I think it’s time these two go their separate ways. It’s so obvious that Elena should be with Damon, a guy who can actually challenge her, and Stefan fits better with newbie vamp Caroline because she brings out his fun side.
Keep in mind, I’ve never read the book series the show is based on, so I have no idea what’s going to happen. But it seems pretty clear these are two very mixed-up couples. Here are 4 reasons why my theory is correct:
1. Nina and Ian’s scenes (aka the one at the end of tonight’s episode) are so much more emotional than the ones between Nina and Paul. Those interactions have gotten kind of flat.
2. Damon is still totally hung up on Katherine, so it’s only natural that he would move on to someone who reminds him of her. Gee, I wonder where he could find someone.
3. Caroline is up for grabs now that Matt decided to dump her.
4. And finally: You all already agree with me! You voted that Ian and Nina make a hotter on-screen pair than Twilight’s Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, so you obviously dig them together.
Once More, With Feeling?
Ian Somerhalder wants a Vampire Diaries musical episode!
For those who enjoyed last week’s “Vampire Diaries” episode tease from series star Ian Somerhalder, we have a slew of juicy goods to roll-out this week (in addition to Ian having admitted that playing the softer side of Damon is a challenge, and that he spends his days off trying to save the world, of course).
For today’s installment, we bring you Ian’s thoughts on his new “Sexy Beast” status, hazing from his co-stars and the answer to an excellent reader-submitted question: Would he consider doing a musical episode?
“I would do a musical episode in a heartbeat!” Ian exclaimed, then revealed that one of his fellow cast members has a hidden talent that would be perfect for a musical. “Zach Roerig [aka Matt] is a tap dancer,” he said. “Who would’ve thought?” (more…)
A chat with Ian Somerhalder
Last September 23 Ian was in Washington D.C attending the Washington Energy Summit. The Washington Post did an interview with Ian, which was added to our video archive, and captures added to the gallery.

Hello, my name is Elena Gilbert, and I’m annoying.
Sorry, guys, she’s really annoying me in the past two episodes. Kudos to awesome Nina Dobrev, that can make me want to strangle Elena and cheer up for Katherine in the same episode.
Captures of last episode was added to our gallery. Clips are coming soon.

Although Ian Somerhalder is in the thick of a busy filming schedule for season two of his obsessed-over CW show “The Vampire Diaries,” he’s taking a day off — and for a good cause. Somerhalder is heading to Washington, D.C. where he’s attending the Washington Energy Summit.
Somerhalder will meet with members of both houses of Congress to discuss the importance of green/alternative energy and technology. The actor has been vocal about the effects of the BP oil spill and recently partnered up with the portable energy company Go Green Mobile Power. When we caught up with him on the eve of his big trip, Somerhalder was brimming with excitement over getting to be a part of the conversation at a national level. (more…)
